Symbiosis Pune 2027: Courses, SNAP, Fees, Placements and Campus Life — The Complete Guide
CollegePune Team
CollegePune Editorial
Thinking about Symbiosis? Everything in one place: why Pune, what you can study, SNAP 2026 dates and selection, fees, placements, recruiters, teaching style and campus life.

Maybe you're reading this late at night, a mock test still open in another tab. Maybe your parents asked over dinner, “So, which college?” and you said “I'm still deciding,” because the honest answer felt too big to say out loud.
We know that feeling. Choosing where to study isn't really about a college. It's about who you want to become, the city you'll grow up in all over again, the friends who'll still call you in fifteen years, and the first salary you'll proudly share with the people who believed in you.
For more than 50 years, students from every corner of India and from over 85 countries have packed their bags and come to Pune for one name: Symbiosis. Some came with big dreams. Many came nervous, unsure they belonged. Most left changed.
This guide is written for you, the student who is still deciding. We'll walk you through it all, honestly: what Symbiosis is, how to get in, what it costs, where it can take you, and what life there actually feels like. We won't pretend it's right for everyone. But by the end, you'll know if it's right for you.
Stay till the end. The roadmap and the honest checklist at the bottom are the parts most students tell us they wish someone had shown them earlier.
Quick answer: what is Symbiosis Pune, and how do you get in?
Symbiosis International (Deemed University) is a Pune-based university founded in 1971 by Prof. Dr. S.B. Mujumdar. It runs many institutes for UG, PG and MBA programmes. For an MBA, you take the SNAP exam (Symbiosis National Aptitude Test), then a Group Exercise and Personal Interaction at each institute you apply to. For most UG programmes, you take the SET (Symbiosis Entrance Test).

Chapter 1: What is Symbiosis, and why does its story matter?
Every big institution has an origin story. Symbiosis has one of the most human ones.
In 1971, Prof. Dr. S.B. Mujumdar founded Symbiosis to help foreign students in Pune. Think about what those students faced: thousands of kilometres from family, a new language, a new culture, and no one to turn to. Symbiosis began as a place where they could belong. Not as a business, but as a home.
That idea is still its motto: Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, “the world is one family”. Today Symbiosis is a family of institutes across management, law, media, computer studies, health sciences, engineering, design, banking and sports, with more than 40,000 students from 85+ countries.
Why this matters to you: on your first day, the person next to you might be from Kerala, Kashmir or Kenya. You'll argue over case studies, stay up before deadlines and celebrate placement results together. That's not just a nice memory. Today's managers lead diverse teams, and Symbiosis gives you two years to learn how, among people who quickly stop being strangers.
Chapter 2: Why Pune is one of India's best cities to study
Some cities you visit. Pune is a city you grow up in, even if you arrive at 22.
It has been called the “Oxford of the East” for generations, and you'll feel why within your first week: the chai stalls full of students arguing about careers, the evening rides through tree-lined roads, the feeling that everyone around you is building something. Your parents will worry less here too. Pune is known as a welcoming, student-friendly city.
- Industry on your doorstep. Hinjewadi's IT parks, the auto and manufacturing belt around Pimpri-Chinchwad and Chakan, and a fast-growing startup scene mean live projects and internships are a short ride away, not a flight away.
- A student city. Cafés, bookshops, theatre, weekend treks to the Sahyadri forts, and thousands of students from across India make Pune easy to settle into.
- Pleasant weather. Pune is milder than Mumbai, Delhi or Chennai for most of the year, which makes campus life comfortable.
- Close to Mumbai. India's financial capital is about three hours away, useful for finance and consulting interviews and networking.
- Lower living costs than the metros. Rent and daily expenses are usually lower than in Mumbai or Bengaluru.
Chapter 3: What can you study at Symbiosis Pune?

Chapter 4: SNAP, your gateway to a Symbiosis MBA
Here's some good news if entrance exams make your stomach drop: SNAP is one of the friendliest MBA tests in India. It's only 60 minutes long, you get up to three attempts, and your best score counts. One bad day doesn't decide your future.
SNAP 2026 dates
| Event | Date |
|---|---|
| Registration and payment closes | 25 November 2026 |
| SNAP Test 01 | 13 December 2026 (Sunday) |
| SNAP Test 02 | 19 December 2026 (Saturday) |
| SNAP Test 03 | 26 December 2026 (Saturday) |
| Result | 12 January 2027 |
SNAP exam pattern
A 60-minute computer-based test with 60 questions, 1 mark each. Each wrong answer loses a quarter mark.
| Section | Questions |
|---|---|
| General English | 10 |
| Analytical and Logical Reasoning | 20 |
| Quantitative, Data Interpretation and Data Sufficiency | 20 |
| Ethics, Morality and Values | 10 |
From SNAP score to admission
- Register on snaptest.org: ₹2,550 per SNAP attempt plus ₹1,000 per programme you apply to (plus taxes). Both are non-refundable.
- Take SNAP up to three times. Your highest score counts.
- Get shortlisted by each institute based on your SNAP percentile.
- Attend GE-PI: a Group Exercise and a Personal Interaction. You must attend every component.
- Final merit is out of 100 marks: SNAP 50, Group Exercise 10, Personal Interaction 40.
The insight most students miss: the Personal Interaction is worth 40 marks, almost as much as SNAP. That's good news if you're not a “topper”. Symbiosis wants to meet the person behind the percentile: what you've done, what you've learned from your failures, and why you want this. Your story matters here. Start thinking about it now.
Eligibility: a bachelor's degree with at least 50% marks (45% for SC/ST). Final-year students can apply. Some programmes have extra conditions, such as 65% for the SSBF dual-degree programmes.

Chapter 5: What does a Symbiosis MBA cost?
Let's talk about the question many families discuss quietly at home: “Can we afford this?” It's a fair question, and you deserve a straight answer. The flagship SIBM Pune MBA is reported at about ₹26.2 lakh in academic fees for the 2026–28 batch, or about ₹32.6 lakh including hostel, mess and deposits. These figures come from a third-party education site, not an official Symbiosis document. Other Symbiosis institutes generally cost less than the flagship. Confirm the current fee on each institute's official website before you apply.
Symbiosis is a deemed university, so it sets its own fees. They are not capped by Maharashtra's Fees Regulating Authority the way MAH-CET colleges are. Many students fund their MBA through education loans and scholarships, so a high fee doesn't have to end the conversation. Ask each institute about merit and need-based support, and compare the fee with the median salary below. Think of it as an investment you're making in yourself, and check the numbers carefully, the way any good manager would.

Chapter 6: Placements and recruiters, where a Symbiosis MBA can take you
Imagine the day your phone buzzes with an offer letter, and the first call you make is home. For many Symbiosis students, that day is what the two years build towards. Here are the latest reported numbers for the two best-known Pune institutes:
| Institute (batch) | Average CTC | Median CTC | Highest CTC | Recruiters |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| SIBM Pune (2023–25) | ₹28.83 LPA | ₹26.04 LPA | ₹53.58 LPA | 110 companies (54 new) |
| SCMHRD (2024–26) | ₹21.90 LPA | ₹20 LPA | ₹38 LPA | 110+ companies |
Source: figures as reported by InsideIIM (SIBM Pune, April 2025) and Campusutra (SCMHRD, 2026), not official placement reports. Check each institute's official final placement report before deciding.
Where SIBM Pune's 2025 batch went
BFSI 29%, Consulting 19%, FMCG 15%, Automotive and Manufacturing 12%, IT and E-commerce 8%, Media and Telecom 4%, Healthcare 3%, Others 10%.
Recruiters reported at SCMHRD
Bain & Company, JPMC, Unilever, L'Oréal, Maruti Suzuki, Tata Consumer Products, Accenture, Infosys Consulting, Capgemini, EY, Oracle, SAP, Coca-Cola, Flipkart and Amazon.
How to read placement numbers: the median tells you what a typical student earns, so trust it more than the highest package. Also look at the average for your specialisation. Institute-by-institute details are in our Symbiosis Pune average package guide and our SIBM vs SCMHRD comparison.
Chapter 7: Inside the classroom, how Symbiosis teaches
If you're tired of memorising notes for exams you forget a week later, you'll find the Symbiosis classroom different. You won't just sit and listen. You'll be asked what you would do, defend it in front of a room full of sharp classmates, and sometimes discover you were wrong. That's where the real learning happens. Expect:
- Case-based learning: you work through real business decisions, defend your view and get challenged by classmates.
- A summer internship between the first and second years, often the route to a pre-placement offer. SIBM Pune's 2025 batch received 98 pre-placement offers.
- Live projects and industry speakers, helped by Pune's IT, manufacturing and startup ecosystem.
- Group work and presentations in almost every course, which builds the confidence you'll need in interviews and at work.
- Specialised programmes in AI, analytics, healthcare, sports, agri-business and more, so you can choose a niche early.
Chapter 8: Life beyond the classroom
Years later, you may not remember every formula from your finance class. But you'll remember the case competition your team fought for till midnight, the fest you helped organise on almost no sleep, and the friend who sat with you when a placement interview didn't go your way. That's the part of Symbiosis no brochure fully captures.
- Student clubs and committees: finance, marketing, consulting, HR, culture, sports and social impact. Running one is real management experience.
- Fests, competitions and conclaves organised by students, where you meet industry leaders and compete with peers from other B-schools.
- A truly international mix: classmates from 85+ countries across the Symbiosis family, true to the “one family” motto.
- Sport and well-being: campus sports, inter-institute tournaments and Pune's hills for weekend treks.
- Networks for life: a large alumni base across industries helps with internships, job switches and mentoring.

Is Symbiosis right for you? An honest checklist
We'd rather you choose the right college than just choose Symbiosis. So be honest with yourself here. Tick the statements that are true for you:
- ☐ I want a reputed MBA in a student-friendly city with strong industry links.
- ☐ I know which specialisation interests me, or I want an institute that lets me choose.
- ☐ I can fund the fees, or I have a plan for loans and scholarships.
- ☐ I'm ready to prepare for a fast, 60-minute test and a 40-mark interview.
- ☐ I value peer diversity, clubs and campus life as much as classes.
Four or five ticks: SNAP should be on your list. Fewer: compare Symbiosis with other routes too.
Things to weigh before you choose
- Cost: Symbiosis fees are higher than most FRA-regulated MBA colleges in Pune.
- Not all institutes are equal: placements vary widely between institutes, so judge each one separately.
- Campus distance: some campuses, such as Lavale, are far from central Pune.
- Keep a backup: take CAT or MAH-MBA/MMS-CET too, so you have options. See MBA CET vs CAT vs SNAP.
Your Symbiosis MBA roadmap
- Now to 25 November 2026: shortlist your programmes, register for SNAP and pay programme fees.

- GE-PI rounds: prepare your story, goals and “why this institute” answer.

- June–July 2027: move to Pune and begin your MBA.
A last word, from us to you
If you've read this far, you're serious about this. And that seriousness is exactly what Symbiosis looks for.
You don't need to have it all figured out. Nobody walks onto that campus fully sure of themselves. What you need is the courage to apply, the discipline to prepare and the honesty to tell your story well. The rest, the friendships, the confidence, the career, is built there, one day at a time, in a city that has welcomed students like you for generations.
Two years from now, you could be the one telling a nervous applicant, “I was scared too. Apply anyway.”
Pune is waiting. Your story starts with one registration on snaptest.org, before 25 November 2026.
